Our Firm History

Welcome to Knight and Cerritelli, LLC. a boutique law firm located in New Haven, Connecticut, a city as diverse as our clients. Our founding partner, Tara Knight, began our firm in 1994 when she realized her true passion was defending people accused of crime. Her devotion to the law and strong work ethic caused her to develop a reputation as a diligent, zealous and conscientious advocate.

Not surprisingly, Attorney Knight's practice quickly grew as did her substatial client list. Realizing her need to expand, she sought someone who shared not only her zeal for criminal law, but a lawyer who could also apply those same talents to civil litigation. Her quest ended in 2000, when Gregory Cerritelli joined the firm which then became known as Knight & Cerritelli, LLC.

Our ethos...

Our firm's reputation was built by recognizing a rather obvious fact - nothing is more important that your liberty. Accordingly, we will act within the bounds of the law to ensure your rights are protected, we will give you an honest assessment of the case against you, and we will keep you informed of the status of your case as information is developed. Notably, most of our clients are referrals either from other lawyers, or from friends of those we had the privilege of representing. We receive no greated compliment than the many referrals from these folks we call our clients.

Our guarantee...

Simply stated, we take seriously the sacred trust our clients bestow upon us. However, as with all important matters, there are no guaranteed results. What we can guarantee is a zealous criminal advocate who will act with integrity - sensitive to your needs and mindful of the stressful nature of the criminal process.

Scope of our practice...

Attorney Knight devotes her entire practice to representing individuals accused of crime. Attorney Cerritelli devotes his practice equally to criminal defense and plaintiff's personal injury.

The firm practices in every courthouse in the state as well as federal district court. Although it is impossible to include every offense for which the firm has been engaged, we have represented people accused of the most serious offenses of Capitol Felony and Murder, to neighbor disputes involving barking dogs. There is no offense too serious or too small; our approach is the same for each - dedication to the client.
